New resource for NW boaters launches

SEATTLE, SEPT, 2010 -- The Grow Boating Committee takes pride in unveiling the NYBA’s new boating resource site, NWCruising.com. Everyone from experienced Pacific NW boaters to folks brand new to the pastime (or charter boaters visiting the Pacific NW for the first time) will find useful information. With dramatic regional imagery, as well as text from local boating writers, NWCruising.com captures some of the essential elements that make boating in the Pacific NW a unique and magical experience.

NWCruising.com permits prospective boaters to preview the world of marine state parks, family adventure cruising, and waterfront villages that awaits boat owners in our region. Veteran boaters will enjoy features pertaining to marine birds and mammals, salmon fishing, boat maintenance, and other topics. Some sample itineraries, organized by region, will almost certainly include a few destinations recently overlooked by old salts and yet to be discovered by newcomers.

The Grow Boating Committee conceived and approved the outline of the web site, and Bonnie Bergquist coordinated the efforts of the site designers as well as the writers. A booth near the main entrance of the recent Boats Afloat Show introduced the web site to hundreds of show patrons, and additional free publicity for the site will be forthcoming in one or more of our local boating magazines.

NWCruising.com is not a “finished” product. Periodic updates will inspire previous visitors to return for new information, and will keep the website from becoming stale. NYBA members are encouraged to visit the site and look around. Suggestions for features or content will be carefully considered as the web site moves forward, but the Grow Boating Committee and all NYBA members can take pride in the functional and user-friendly site now forming the backbone on NWCruising.com.
