Lake Union Boats Afloat Show e-tickets on sale Monday

e-Ticket purchase includes free transportation on Seattle Streetcar

 

SEATTLE, Aug. 8, 2008 -- Tickets for Seattle's 31st annual Lake Union Boats Afloat Show go on sale Monday, Aug. 11 at www.BoatsAfloatShow.com. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids between 12 and 18. Kids under 12 are free. The annual boat show, recognized as the West CoastÕs largest floating show, takes place from Wed. Sept. 10 through Sun. Sept. 14 on South Lake Union in Seattle.

To help ease traffic and parking congestion, e-Ticket holders can ride the Seattle Streetcar to and from the Boats Afloat Show for free. The Seattle Street Car, which makes regular runs to and from its Pacific Place Station in downtown Seattle and South Lake Union, is near over eight public parking lots within easy walking distance of the line's 11 stops.

e-Ticket holders will also receive a certificate from SkyCity at the Space Needle. The certificate, good for $25 off your check with the purchase of an entree during lunch, dinner or brunch, includes a round-trip elevator ride to the Seattle icon's restaurant and observation deck.

The Lake Union Boats Afloat show kicks-off the boat buying season for recreational boaters in the Northwest and features over 300 recreational power and sail boats. Among the boats on display are mega yachts over 90 feet, performance ski boats, cruisers, fishing boats, trawlers and affordable boats for first-time boaters.

Attractions at the show include public tours of the Sea Star, one of the boats from the Emmy Award nominated television series Deadliest Catch, a Teen Life Jacket Fashion Show presented by Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center where teens will display the hippest of hip kids life jacket styles available. Also at the Boats Afloat Show, the first 300 youth in attendance can take home their own free life jacket sponsored by BECU. And kids of all ages can discover sailing with free sailboat rides on Lake Union throughout the show.

In addition to attractions for the entire family, the show includes dozens of shore-side exhibits with experts in marine finance and insurance to interior design and engine repair. The show also includes how-to and travel seminars featuring many of the Northwest's most interesting and experienced boaters along with plenty of food and musical entertainment.

Since being joined in 2005 by the Seattle Boat Show at Shilshole Bay Marina, the Lake Union Boats Afloat Show, with a history dating to 1977, has consistently grown in popularity to become the largest on-water boat show on the west coast.
