Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival July 4-7, 2013

Dates: Thursday, July 4 through Sunday, July 7

Location: Lake Union Park, 860 Terry Ave N., Seattle, WA 9109

The 37th Lake Union Wooden Boat Festival kicks off this year on the 4th of July, and runs a full 4 days. The Wooden Boat Festival is designed to celebrate the maritime heritage of Seattle, and get people out on the water on historic wooden boats. There’s nothing stuffy about CWB and its wooden boat festival! This is an old-fashioned, down-home waterfront festival were everything is fun and almost everything is free.

The 2013 Festival will include: visiting vessels, boat tours, free public boat rides on Lake Union, activities for kids including toy boat building and a scavenger hunt, craft and skill demonstrations, food vendors, live music, and a 24 hour boat building race called the Quick and Daring. Teams have 24-hours to build their boats, and if they don’t do a good job who knows if it will hold together during the race… or sink. New in 2013 will be the Cordless Challenge Races, where competitors will power their boats with cordless drills.

It all starts on the 4th of July! Lake Union Park will be open for families looking for somewhere to spread their blankets and watch the fireworks over Lake Union.
